Dimensional Network is pleased to announce a new initiative, “Strengthening Youth Inclusion in Security Accountability in Oyo State,” supported by the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF). The project seeks to promote meaningful youth participation, stakeholder engagement, and accountability in security governance across Oyo State, Nigeria.
Promoting Youth Participation in Security Governance
Young people have an important role to play in building safer, more inclusive, and accountable communities. Their experiences, perspectives, and contributions can help strengthen community engagement and improve how security concerns are discussed and addressed.
However, meaningful youth participation requires more than inviting young people to meetings. It involves creating opportunities for them to contribute to discussions, engage relevant stakeholders, express their concerns, and participate in accountability processes that affect their communities.
Through this initiative, Dimensional Network aims to strengthen youth inclusion in security accountability and encourage constructive engagement between young people and relevant security governance stakeholders across Oyo State.
Building a More Inclusive Approach to Community Security
The project is anchored in the understanding that effective security governance benefits from inclusive participation, dialogue, and accountability. By promoting youth engagement, the initiative seeks to contribute to a security governance environment in which young people’s perspectives are recognised and their participation is encouraged.
The initiative also reflects the importance of strengthening relationships between young people, community stakeholders, and relevant institutions responsible for security and public safety.
